Rule Of 72 – Your Financial Calculator In Investment

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Have you ever wondered how much a part of your investments will be worth 10 years from now? How about 20 years? You can easily figure it out without using a financial calculator. Just use the Rule of 72, your financial calculator in investment.

Let’s say you invested $10,000 in a fixed annuity earning 6% a year. In 24 years, your assets will be worth about $40,000. Then how does it work?

And the Rule of 72: Divide the number 72 by the interest you earn, and it will give you the number of years it will take for your money to double. Using the above example, 72 divided by 6 equals 12 years for doubling. Pretty simple-hah! Since there are two doubling periods in 24 years, the original $10,000 would be worth $20,000 in 12 years, and $40,000 in 24 years.

Using this same Rule, an investment earning 8% would double in about 9 years, and a 12% investment would double in 6 years.

You need to remember that a 6% interest rate in a Certificate of Deposit would not work as well as a 6% annuity. A CD earning 6% would leave an investor approximately 4% after taxes. The Rule of 72 would only apply to an after-tax yield. A 6% annuity would be tax-deferred; therefore, the entire 6% would be counted.

The Rule of 72 works best with fixed investments, or those with a fairly stable return. Also, it only works if you reinvest your assets. The Rule does not apply if you withdraw any funds.

You can even use this Rule in reverse. For example, you are 38 years old, and you’d like to know how much you’d have to invest today to retire a millionaire.

Using the same Rule, assuming a retirement age of 65, and an average annual return of 8%, here is how it would work:

Step One: 72 divided by 8% would signify that your money would double every 9 years.

Step 2: At age 65, you want your assets to be worth $1,000,000, so…

Step 3: You work in reverse, going back 9 years for every doubling period.

$1,000,000 at age 65 (your goal)

$500,000 at age 56 (9 years earlier)

$250,000 at age 47,

$125,000 at age 38 (lump sum)

If you invest $125,000 at 8% until age 65 (before taxes), you would have about $1,000,000 at retirement. This amount would change, of course, if you invested more than $125,000, or if the interest were higher, or better still, you started investing a little sooner than age 38.

Depending on your goals, and your age, you could retire earlier or later than age 65. You don’t have to invest a lump sum to retire comfortably. Just have a goal, and a systematic investment plan, and your retirement needs will be accomplished.

Six Fun Wine Tasting Party Themes

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

So you want to host a wine tasting? Make it fun! Wine tasting doesn’t have to be a stuffy affair. After all, wine is first and foremost about pleasure. So even if you are trying to organize an education tasting, you should keep it enjoyable. One of the best ways to keep your guests interested and focused on the wine while having a great time is to plan a fun wine tasting theme. A cohesive theme helps keep the tasting focused and helps to get guests involved, drawing them out to comment on and discuss the wines. After all, the discussion is what is really the most fun and educational, not just tasting the wines. Otherwise you could just have wine tastings all alone at home!

Some of the themes listed below are not mutually exclusive. Mix it up, make it interesting in any way that seems entertaining to you and your guests. You can even throw in some wine tasting party games to really turn up the excitement.

Blind Wine Tastings:

A blind wine tasting is a fun way to get everyone involved and keep your guests guessing. In a blind tasting, the tasters are blinded to the wines. Generally, the bottles are covered with a brown bag to hide their identity and then numbered with a marker. That way your guests are not biased based on the label, producer, price or anything else. You can share your unbiased thoughts and impressions about the wines. You can have random wines or they can all have some theme, such as a vertical or horizontal tasting (see below). It can even be fun to incorporate a game such as scoring each wine to see which wine gets the most votes. Or you can award prizes for the person who guesses the the most wines correctly (vintage, producer, region, grape varieties, etc.). At the end you reveal the wine and can discuss further once you know what the wines were. It is a good idea to reveal the wines while everyone still has a bit of each wine left to taste so they can go back and reassess their impressions after finding out what they were drinking.

Vertical Wine Tasting:

A vertical tasting is an assortment of the same wine, from the same producer and vineyard, across several vintages. It is a great way to begin to understand both the style and specific characteristics of a producer or vineyard as well as the subtle differences that result from the different growing conditions of different vintages. While this can be difficult to arrange for someone new to wine, who only has access to the newest wines that are on the current market, if you have friends who collect wine and can help source the bottles this type of tasting can be very educational.

Horizontal Wine Tasting:

A horizontal wine tasting theme is much easier to put together. It is a tasting of various wines from the same vintage. Ideally, wines from the same region and general style are tasted from one vintage to compare the different producers and vineyards. This helps to learn about the characteristics of the vintage as well as the differences between the various producers or vineyards the wines come from. This type of tasting is much easier to put together than a vertical tasting because the wines all come from the same vintage. If you stick to a current vintage then you will have many options you can find in the marketplace. While it is generally best to stick to one region or style of wine, if you really want to challenge your guests you can include several wines from the same vintage but from different regions, grapes or countries to help learn about the, sometimes dramatic, differences between them.

Wine Region Theme:

A great way to learn a lot about a particular wine region is to host a tasting where the theme is just one wine producing area. Choose several wines produced in that region, from different producers, vineyards and sub-regions within the area. As you and your guests taste through them, pay attention to the similarities as well as the differences. Can you identify any characteristics that unify the wines? What sets them apart? Ask these questions to your guests. If you draw people out to talk, discuss and argue, your tasting will be more fun and educational.

Wine Scoring Party:

Another fun way to get your guests all personally involved is to ask everyone to score each wine. While most tasters find it easy to say if they like or don’t like a wine, it requires much more attention to the details of the wine to give it a specific score. There are different ways to do this. One of the best is to supply your guests with a wine tasting score sheet which serves as a template to score wines. You can have sections with room for notes on the wine name, color and appearance, aroma, flavor and mouthfeel and overall impressions and conclusions. For the standard 100 point score they can give up to 5, 15, 20, and 10 points each for the color/appearance, aromas, flavors and overall impression/finish, respectively. The scores for each are added and added to 50 to create the final score between 50 and 100. You can then compare scores across guests and figure out how the wines ranked.

Wine and Food Pairing Dinner Party Theme:

Traditionally, wine is not meant to be enjoyed alone. Throughout history wine has accompanied food and many people believe that alongside food is where you should enjoy and judge wine. While tastings of wine alone is a lot of fun, a full dinner can really make the food and wine shine, bringing out nuances of each that were missing before. If you or your friends love to cook, pairing wine with each dish or course is a great way to both learn about the wines but also to learn about what types of wines work with specific foods. You can serve several wines alone with a given course and vote on which paired the best with the food. A fun way to do this is to choose a country or region and pair that area’s cuisine with the wines produced there. For example, you can pair traditional Spanish cuisine with Spanish wines. The cuisine and wine of these old cultures grew up alongside each other over centuries and therefore they often create some of the most profound food and wine pairings. There are so many other options, from the general (like French wine with French food) to the specific (like Provençal cuisine with Bandol wine or Southwestern French cuisine with Bordeaux). If you are really enthusiastic you can even decorate the room and table in the style of that region to get everyone in the mood. Get creative and make it fun!

Global Warming – Is The Bush II Government Pursuing A Policy Of Genocide By Proxy

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

The legendary Indian spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) once said: “The earth has enough for the needs of all but not the greed of a few.” His words have since proved to be quite prophetic!

The world today is in chaos and by that I’m not merely referring to the tumult taking place in the Middle East; what I’m talking about is the imminent extinction of hundreds of millions of people as a result of global warming. In both scenarios the United States plays a central role!

I have already pretty much detailed out how and why global warming is happening and which nations are most responsible for its acceleration, as well as who’s doing what and who is not to rectify the situation in my article entitled: Global Warming–How It Could Spark World War III.

That said, I’ve included a list of figures below to illustrate to what extent each nation/region is responsible for greenhouse gas pollution in the atmosphere (greenhouse gases are widely held to be the engine behind the accelerated global warming seen today):

USA: 30.3%

Europe: 27.7%

Russia: 13.7%

South East Asia: 12.2%

South/Central America: 3.8%

Japan: 3.7%

Middle East: 2.6%

Africa: 2.5%

Australia: 1.1%

The Truth Behind The Lie

To many in marketing circles the concept of manipulation of social evidence is nothing new. Basically what it entails is manipulating tools of evidence to further one’s goals.

Thus for example, until fairly recently in internet marketing circles, the practice of manufacturing bogus testimonials was fairly widespread. The objective being to convince visitors to one’s website to purchase products on the strength of those manufactured testimonials.

In the arena of global warming much the same has been happening. In the same manner that a defense counsel in a court case will produce its own expert witness to discredit that of the prosecution (or vice versa) so has the Bush II administration paraded a string of bogus experts to decry global warming as just a myth!

In 2007 a good number of environmental scientists and climatologists publicly stated that they’d been pressurized by various Bush II factions to manipulate data to downplay the seriousness of global warming!

Which simply begs the question: why is the Bush II administration going to such lengths to hide the truth about global warming?

Snatch ‘n’ Grab Operation Gone Awry

It is now widely accepted that the invasion of Iraq had little to do with terrorism, less to do with democracy but everything to do with oil! The question still remains however, why did the US go to such lengths (which included manufacturing evidence) to illegally invade a sovereign state under what at best can be described as a thinly disguised pretext for war?

Was it merely a question of the then single remaining superpower claiming its right to wield that might as it saw fit irrespective of international law, just as Nazi Germany once did?

Or was it a case of a few vain men hoping to claim their slice of immortality through a legacy festooned with the glory of having secured new oil reserves for a nation with a quenchless thirst for the stuff?

Or perhaps the U.S. oil reserves were so desperately low that Bush II and his New World Order buddies were prepared to force a snatch and grab operation that could easily have escalated into third world war, so as to shore up those dwindled oil reserves?

Or maybe, just maybe, the U.S. desperately needed to stockpile a vast amount of oil for something far, far more sinister.

To keep at bay a monster it helped so much to create!

Threads Weaving A Disturbing Tapestry Of Events

These days more often than not fact is stranger than fiction. When we look at the Bush II Administration’s policy on global warming it is beyond perplexing why they have gone to such lengths to deny its existence.

For sure, his Have-More buddies in oil and other environmental-damaging industries have plenty to gain by muddying the waters, but what if there’s really more to this repudiation of global warming than that!

What if this is a carefully concocted plot that has been kept under wraps for years?

Here’s what we know thus far about global warming. The data has been around for well over a decade and has been readily available to government officials. Since the turn of the 21st century scientists across the globe have been warning of the extent of global warming; warnings that apparently fell on deaf ears! (Well at least as far as the Bush II administration was concerned.)

But supposing this was not actually the case.

What if the Bush II administration did listen, but only to those scientists who’d concluded that the world had reached the point of no return? And that global warming could not be reversed anytime in the foreseeable future and thus by proxy neither could its ensuing effects!

Fuelling Up For A Global Catastrophe

In other words there was no point implementing measures to curb greenhouse gas emissions (thereby slowing down global warming) and that in fact the best policy was to forge powerfully ahead and ensure that America was readied for the ensuing catastrophe no matter the cost!

If it meant manufacturing a war, so be it! If it meant causing the deaths of hundreds of millions of people to achieve that aim, so be it! After all this wouldn’t be the first time in history that the few had been sacrificed for the many! Oh! Except in this case it is the many sacrificing for the few, or more specifically, The Have-Mores!

When looked at from this perspective, that the U.S. is fuelling up for a long term global catastrophe, it all begins to make some sense! Especially considering that Saudi Arabia still has the greatest oil reserves in the world and has never said no to U.S. oil demands!

Bottom line, it is quite conceivable that the U.S. under Bush II has been insuring against (or at least trying to) a global catastrophe predominantly of its own making! But alas even the best laid plans go badly awry. Iraq didn’t turn out to be the pushover they’d expected and the oil is not gushing the way they had envisioned.

Think that such a scenario is way over the top? Think again! Remember Iraq? Remember Hurricane Katrina?

The way the Bush II government handled Katrina was so shameful that Google for some reason best known to it was compelled to replace post-Hurricane Katrina satellite imagery with pre-hurricane images on its map portal (Damage control? Trying to hide America’s shame from the rest of the world? At whose behest one wonders?).

As you can well imagine, when it came to light, the whole sordid affair was an extreme embarrassment to Google (And certainly not good for business! The search engine business thrives on the premise that results are accurate and impartial and not manipulated!).

But the point I wish to emphasize here is that if the Bush II government could shun its very own citizens (albeit mainly citizens of color) in such a cavalier fashion why would they give a damn if their actions resulted in the deaths of hundreds of millions of Africans or peoples from other parts of the globe who are going to be worst hit by global warming?

In World War II the Nazi’s genocide weapon-of-choice was hydrogen cyanide gas, what irony that in the upcoming global warming related genocide, gas too is the weapon of choice; carbon dioxide gas!

Stop Global Warming

A Garage Sale Can Be Easy Money For Teens

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

A garage sale is an opportunity for you to get rid of all those things that you do not need anymore. There are also those that are moving from their current home and are looking to sell off all the small and sundry stuff that they do not want to take with them. Whatever be the reason for the sale, if you are keen on your garage sale being a success, you need a plan and a little knowledge of how these things work.

Not many realize that like any other business venture, setting up a garage sale is an affair involving various well-structured steps. Outlines here is a general guideline on how to successfully to conduct a garage sale.

The first thing you will need to do is to clearly decide on what you will be selling and mark them neatly. You do not want to be regretting selling that old vase that could have found use in your living room. Conversely, you also do not want any item that you wanted to sell to be forgotten in a corner of the room only to be remembered later.

Once you have formed a neat list of everything you are going to have on your garage sale, you have fully decided you will be selling them! This is important. There will not be any backtracking on your part. No ah, I do not think I should be selling that. Once your list is carved in stone, categorize them unambiguously. Now, get your entire inventory out and evaluate each one. Unclean things need to be cleaned and torn or broken things glued, if possible, to make them more presentable.

Now is when you review your list once more and decide on the pricing. I would suggest going with your instincts on this, but to take care not to price your items so high that they will not sell. Also, do not be rigid at all with your pricing. If anyone wants to buy in bulk, you have got to have discounts for them. Your main aim will be to sell each item on the list. If that requires bringing the price down, so be it.

Next, choose where you are going to have the sale and get the chairs, tables and other things that are going to be necessary for the sale. You will need to visualize how the actual sale will be and decide on where each item is going to be placed. This will make your job easier. You might also want to prepare huge boards that will be placed in front of each category of items so your prospective buyers can find what they want easily.

Once you have got everything ready, decide on a specific day for the sale and advertise your sale. Probably the best way to advertise is to put an ad in the local newspaper on the day of the sale. Flyers work well too. Make sure your garage sale gets in the face of every person passing by. Use large bright signs that can be seen from a block away. You will be surprised by the number of curious passers-by that will stop to take a look.

If you have everything well, you have nothing to be anxious about. When the buyers arrive, just enjoy yourself. Talk to everyone, make them feel at home and let them know what you have. Of course, they will haggle over the prices. But if you have your pricing strategy ready, you will know exactly how low you can go. Always remember that the buyers are the most important people. Keep them entertained and make sure they enjoy the sale too. If you have got their attention, they will buy. And if they buy, your garage sale is a success! Well, if you have followed your plan well, it sure has to be a success!

Hope the above outline was helpful. Good luck with your garage sale!

Reenacting History – Living Out History For Fun and Discovery

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Where is it that most of us learn about history? For many it is just a class we have to take in school to graduate. For others it is in their blood and they are history buffs. Many are content to learn from books or History TV. Then there are others who for one reason or another are drawn to a simpler and more exciting way of life. These are the folks who get involved and love reenacting history and discover the rewards and challenges of those who lived in earlier days.

Reenacting is a hobby where the people who participate live out history as they portray the people of the past. It may be as early pioneers, civil war battles, the Medieval period, or even World War I and II periods. You can find re-enactors in all the time periods of history.

Fleshing out history as you reenact it is one of the greatest learning tools you will ever experience. Whether you are actively involved in reenactment attire or just going to be a spectator at a reenactment such as are held in Mackinaw City, MI or Gettysburg, PA you will discover what it was like to live in the past.

Those who take part in living out history dress in authentic reenactment clothing and costumes. They do very accurate research in the time period that they find most interesting for them to pursue. There is no arm chair quarterbacking when it comes to being involved in reenacting history. You will feel what it is like to have lived in the time period you have chosen. A re-enactor will wear the clothing of the times and eat the food of the day. You will cook on open fires (depending on the era) with dated cookware. None of this Teflon coated stuff but real cast iron pots and pans or even your helmet if you are into WWII.

Real Estate – Hire an Agent to Sell Your Home

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

It’s tax tough market for trying to sell a home. Should you get a real estate agent or do it yourself? In these economic times, you may be considering handling the sell yourself. “For Sell by Owner” saves you the 6% commission fee that goes to the brokers.

That’s a lot of money you would rather keep in your pocket. Stick a sign in the yard and wait. Sounds easy enough, but it may not be as profitable as you think. Here’s why tax a real estate agent tax mistakes a better move, especially in these tough economic times:

* Market Knowledge:
A professional agent has his thumb on the pulse of the housing market in your area. He knows what houses are going for and can help you determine a fair price that will be competitive. By the way, the commission fee is priced into the home price. He also knows exactly what’s on the market and how it compares to your home. He knows what people are looking for and what will sell. Do you know all of this? It would take a lot of time and research that you just don’t have, to gain the type of knowledge an agent comes with.

* Marketing Tools:
When you hire an agent, you have the backing of the entire brokerage firm. With this support come all the marketing tools the firm has to offer. Sure, that means putting your house in all the local trade and real estate magazines as well as the classifieds, but the most important feature is the MLS listing. This is a nationwide data base of all the homes on the market that agents can peruse and find homes for their clients. Potential buyers can also do their own research using an MLS number. For sell by owner homes are not qualified for an MLS listing and the owner must put the listing on a FSBO site. You cannot count on agents even looking at this Web site. With an agent, he does all the leg work and you don’t pay for a thing until the house is sold. FSBO means you have to do your own marketing and pay for it all up front.

* Disclosures and Contract Knowledge:
Have you ever bought or sold a house? There is a ton of paperwork to be signed – lots of legal stuff that the agent can explain in a simple sentence for you. Do you know how to draw up contracts so that they are legal and binding? A real estate agent has all the correct and legal documents for your state already on file and ready to go, plus they know what they all mean. It would be easy to get into a legal mess over disclosures and contracts if they are not correct.

* Negotiations:
This is very important! A potential buyer is going to place a bid on the house. Is it fair? Should you take it? An agent will guide you through this process. Generally, the buyer will make the lowest bid that is fair and the seller will counter with something between the asking price and the bid. Other issues are thrown in there, like aesthetic improvements and closing costs. If you lower the asking price, you can ask for the buyer to share in the commission. It is an agent’s job to sell your home. That is all he has to do. And, he has clients and colleagues with clients who want to buy a home. In between going to work, geting ready to move and dealing with all the other responsibilities you have, how much time do you have left for the sale of your house? Yes, a sign in the yard has sold homes, but that is not the norm. Your agent is in the midst of the area housing market and will do what he can to sell your home. Remember, he doesn’t get paid until he sells it.

With the changed market scenario in real estate, selling your house in a buyer’s market is more difficult as a home owner. When dealings are critical, it’s time to turn to the experts from Real Estate Louisiana for advice and guidance. Visit http://www.realestatelouisiana.com/

31 Simple Ways to Save Money

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Day 1:
Promise this month that you will use every drop of shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, and moisturizer in your house before you buy any more. See if you can last an entire month with the inventory you already have on hand.

Day 2:
When you’re ready to throw out your toothpaste, squeeze, flatten, press hard to get just 1 or 2 more uses from the tube.

Day 3:
Have friends over for dinner this weekend instead of eating out. Each month rotate who will host the dinner party.

Day 4:
If you are dissatisfied with the service or product you recently purchase, send a complaint letter. Oftentimes, the company will send you an apology with some sort of coupon or certificate.

Day 5:
Plant a garden this year and have fresh vegetables this summer.

Day 6:
If you are considering a car purchase, think fuel efficiency. A vehicle that gets 30 miles per gallon (MPG) will cost you $450 less to fuel each year than one that gets 20 MPG (assuming 12,000 miles of driving annually and a fuel cost of $2.60). If you own your car for at least 5 years, the more efficient MPG car will save you $2250 in gasoline.

Day 7:
Shop differently at the grocery stores. Most stores have attractive sales that bring you in the door in the hopes that you’ll end up buying other items that are regular price. This is referred to as a “loss leader.” Buy the loss leaders in bulk and freeze what you don’t use. If you eat pasta sauce regularly and the store has them on a great sale, buy four of them. You’ll use them if they are in your pantry.

Day 8:
Stop using your local ATM machine. Most grocery and drug stores, gas stations, and convenient stores now allow you to get cash back from your purchase. Don’t give away $1.50-$3.00 to use your local machine.

Day 9:
Round up the cost of your purchase. As you work your budget use whole dollars and drop of the cents. For example, if something cost you $9.70, list it as $10.00. Over the course of the month you will have created a little slush fund that can be set aside for savings.

Day 10:
Eat a big breakfast meal for dinner. When you’re so busy in the morning it’s rare you ever get a real breakfast. Why not have pancakes and omelets for dinner instead?

Day 11:
Keep foods that store well at your workplace. Examples include oatmeal, cream of wheat, soup, and protein bars (that you bought on sale!). This stash of food will come in handy when you are tempted to go to the vending machine.

Day 12:
Bring your lunch to work – 1 day a week

Day 13:
Shampoo your own carpets this season

Day 14:
If you bought an item at regular price and it goes on sale within 30 days, call the store to ask what their policy is on reimbursing you the difference. More often than not, they will give you the sale price!

Day 15:
Get some exercise and wash your own car

Day 16:
On the weekends don’t use makeup and styling hair products.

Day 17:
Instead of buying a new tool, gadget, or piece of equipment, ask you neighbor to borrow theirs. Be a good neighbor and return it when you’re done.

Day 18:
Pay your bills on time and avoid the late fees!

Day 19:
Refinance your home if your rate is 2% points or higher than the current mortgage rates.

Day 20:
Stop trying to compete with the stuff your neighbor owns. There is real freedom when you go to sleep at night knowing that you may have less but you don’t owe anyone a dime.

Day 21:
Teach your children how to fly a kite instead of going to the expensive arcades or movie theatres.

Day 22:
Bring your lunch once this week to work.

Day 23:
Purge your closets. Donate clothes you don’t wear anymore and wear an old forgotten favorite.

Day 24:
Take today and make a spa at home. Bubble bath, facial, moisturize, and relax.

Day 25:
Find out if your local zoo or museum has a “free” day and take the family for a picnic as well.

Day 26:
Look for a lower interest rate if you carry a balance on your credit card account. Spend an hour and save your self hundreds but getting a lower interest rate.

Day 27:
Do you dare to cut or trim your own hair? It will grow back.

Day 28:
Paint your own house.

Day 29:
Make your hobby pay for itself – sell some of your creations.

Day 30:
Eat a piece of fruit as a snack instead of an expensive pre-packaged preservative-filled plastic wrapped calorie-filled cookie, candy bar, or treat.

Day 31:
Just for today, don’t spend any money.

Trading Tips For Determined Forex Traders

Friday, October 24th, 2008

I want to share with you some trading tips designed specifically for the determined forex traders. This is a great market to make good money, but you need to keep things simple, so you can keep things profitable.

The first tip I could give you is focus on building a routine. Having a routine is the key to success. After a routine is acquired, absolutely no mental thought needs to be expended to do it. When you brush your teeth, you don’t think about it. You just do it because it’s a routine. When you’re forced to think of new strategies and what you need to do today and all that stuff, it wears you down. It is a mental hill you have to climb and really leaves you unmotivated. Having a routine where you have most of your day as a routine, you don’t have to think, you just go do it. When you get to the point where you just do things and you make money, you’re ahead of everyone else. Now you can use your mental muscles on tweaking your routine to make you even more money.

The next tip I’ll give is with regards to when you trade. When do you think the best time for you to trade? When most people are or When few people are? I bet most of you would say when few people are, but this is wrong. This is probably one of the few situations where following the crowd is the best way to making money. The reason is that during the times where few people are trading, there are usually big banks trading. Big banks make big trades and these trades greatly effect the currency which can cause them to move in the opposite direction than you anticipated. All that skill you learned anticipating the direction of a currency goes out the window because you’re at the mercy of a big trader. If you look at the time everyone is trading, there is so much volume that market forces are in control. So when a big bank makes a big trade, it doesn’t really have an effect because there is so many other trades going on.

My last piece of advice is to get the tools required for your business. You wouldn’t see a carpenter without a nail gun and hammer, so you shouldn’t be a forex trader with out software like Forex Killer. Most traders aren’t confident enough to leave money in the market while they goto bed. Software will automatically watch the currency and trade it so you don’t lose money and trade it, so you make a good profit. Forex Killer has other added benefits such as searching currency graphs for trends that you can use to make profit.

What is the Self Employment Tax?

So who exactly taxes subject to the IRS self employment tax? Sole proprietors, partners in a small business and independent contractors are the most common examples of people subject to the self employment tax. But just because you make a couple of dollars selling some stuff on an auction website doesn’t mean you’ll have to pay taxes on it. You need to have earned $400.00 or more during the tax year before you have to pay taxes on the money.

To help explain what the self employment tax is you need to understand what taxes are paid on tax mistakes behalf when you work for someone else. The taxes that would normally be taken out of your check by your employer include both the federal withholding tax and FICA. The tax taxes concerned with here is the FICA tax. Normally this tax is 7.65% of your gross income. The tax is actually two separate taxes. One is your Social Security tax with a tax rate of 6.2%. The other goes to Medicare and the tax rate for it is 1.45%. Combined you have your 7.65% tax rate.

Now the federal withholding and FICA taxes are normally withheld by your employer and sent to the IRS. But the actual rate paid to the IRS for the FICA tax is not 7.65%. That is just the portion that is withheld from your paycheck. The actual FICA rate that is paid is 15.3%. The 7.65% you pay on your gross wages has to be matched by your employer and is then applied to your account. So if you had $100.00 withheld for the FICA tax by your employer then they have to match that money with an additional $100.00. If you are the employer this can eventually become a very large amount of money that you will be responsible for paying.

So if you are considered self employed the self employment tax you are paying is the matching portion of your FICA taxes. Since the taxes must be paid and you are considered your own employer you are responsible for paying the tax yourself. The government will always want its money regardless of where they get it.

If you are an entrepreneur and own a small business then there is no real way of getting around this tax. Even if you file W-2′s for yourself and your employees you will still pay this tax on yourself. It will just change from being a self employment tax back to a matching FICA tax. Either way it will come out of your pocket. It’s just one small price you will have to pay to be your own boss.
